Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Movie Review – A moving and spectacular tribute to Chadwick Boseman and the Black Panther legacy
Plot: With the death of King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), Wakanda is believed to be reachable by external forces who envy and fear its resources (vibranium metal). Will Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and her daughter Shuri (Letitia Wright) be able to defend their kingdom in the absence of their benevolent king, the mighty Black Panther?
Review: Revered on screen as Black Panther and much loved as a person and actor, Chadwick Boseman’s death from cancer in 2020 left a void in our hearts. The onset of a global pandemic at the time added to the emotional trauma and distress. Ryan Coogler’s second Black Panther film takes that pain and frailty out of life and infuses it onto the screen. The last emotionally charged and moving Marvel movie was possibly Endgame. The sequel is a spectacular mix of action and thrills that numb the heart, visually mesmerizing. A special Marvel Studios logo dedicated to Chadwick sets the mood for the film, which is a moving and spectacular tribute to the actor and Black Panther legacy.
Unlike the MCU’s excessive obsession with comedy these days, Wakanda Forever sidesteps Marvel stereotypes and tropes. Sure, there are some funny jokes, but they don’t dilute the gravity of the situation or its emotional conflict. Substance is not sacrificed for sale, and frivolity is not confused with fun. In addition to offering some nail-biting action sequences, the film dares to dig deeper. It addresses healing, coexistence, humanity and conscience. Queen Ramonda, her daughter Shuri, and warrior leader Okoye (Danai Gurira) must hide their personal pain and tragedies to protect and strengthen their kingdom. Their weaknesses are as blatant as their courage and they must find strength in the face of pain. Spirituality is also at the heart of this story.
While there is not a single moment of dullness, you can feel the weight of the enormous duration (2 hours and 44 minutes) in portions and an interval helps. A hugely significant post-credits scene will make you smile, so make sure you don’t miss it. All the women, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong’o, are convincing in their key roles. Tenoch Huerta plays a powerful accidental nemesis. Music has always been one of the highlights of the Black Panther films and scores again, including Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up”.
The writing is thoughtful and penetrating. At one point, the grieving Shuri is told, “The world has taken too much of you for you to be considered a child.” Tears will come to your eyes multiple times. To cut to the chase, Ryan Coogler delivers one of the best MCU movies in a long time. Wakanda forever!

The choice between acceptance and bloodlust for revenge, justice and all-consuming fury. But Black Panther, right from the start, took the trouble to remind us that it’s not like other superhero franchises. The powerful fights of his heroes and villains are compelling because they are rooted in something far greater than just a hero’s journey. T’Challa wasn’t just an eccentric outsider with a heroic destiny to cling to if he only believed in himself (or a destiny he could simply earn by not earning it at all, securing his future with a huge legacy). Nor was he forced to take revenge for the loss. Revenge was not his game. He was a protector. The fate of a black nation had been on his shoulders from the start, and a legion of ancestors, of which he was well aware, had guided him, scrutinized him, from the very beginning.
